Iced Tea Baby: How to Make the Perfect Iced Tea
As the days get warmer, there’s nothing more refreshing than a cold glass of iced tea. At Tiny Lotus Tea, we believe in making your tea experience as delightful and simple as possible. Today, I’m sharing a few techniques to brew the perfect iced tea, including my personal favorite way to enjoy our delicious “Peach Please” tea. Of course, you can choose any of our wonderful teas to create your perfect iced tea.
Simple and Straightforward: Cold Brew Method
One of the simplest ways to make iced tea is by cold brewing. This method requires no heat, making it perfect for those hot summer days when you want to keep things cool.
What You’ll Need:
- 4 teaspoons of your favorite Tiny Lotus Tea (our favorite is “Peach Please”)
- 4 cups of cold, filtered water
- A pitcher
- A fine mesh strainer or tea infuser
- Sweetener (optional)
Instructions:
- Add Tea: Place your chosen tea in the pitcher.
- Pour Water: Pour the cold, filtered water over the tea leaves.
- Steep: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for 6-8 hours, or overnight for a stronger flavor.
- Strain: After steeping, strain the tea leaves using a fine mesh strainer or tea infuser.
- Sweeten (Optional): Add sweetener to taste if desired.
- Serve: Pour the cold-brewed tea over ice and enjoy!
Quick and Easy: Hot Brew Method
If you’re short on time, you can also make iced tea by brewing it hot and then chilling it. This is my personal favorite method because it’s so simple and quick.
What You’ll Need:
- 4 teaspoons of your favorite Tiny Lotus Tea (we love “Peach Please” for this method)
- 4 cups of boiling water
- A heat-resistant pitcher
- Ice
- Sweetener (optional)
Instructions:
- Boil Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add Tea: Place your chosen tea in the heat-resistant pitcher.
- Steep: Pour the boiling water over the tea leaves and let it steep for the recommended time (3-5 minutes for black teas like “Peach Please”).
- Cool Down: Remove the tea leaves and let the tea cool down to room temperature.
- Sweeten (Optional): Add sweetener to taste if desired.
- Chill: Place the tea in the refrigerator for a few hours or add ice to cool it down quickly.
- Serve: Pour the chilled tea over ice and enjoy your refreshing drink!
Flash Chill Method: The Ultimate Quick Fix
If you need iced tea right away, the flash chill method is your best friend. This technique ensures you have a cold, refreshing drink in minutes.
What You’ll Need:
- 6 teaspoons of your favorite Tiny Lotus Tea (using more tea compensates for the dilution from the ice)
- 4 cups of boiling water
- A heat-resistant pitcher
- Ice
- Sweetener (optional)
Instructions:
- Boil Water: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add Tea: Place your chosen tea in the heat-resistant pitcher.
- Steep: Pour the boiling water over the tea leaves and let it steep for the recommended time (3-5 minutes for black teas like “Peach Please”).
- Sweeten (Optional): Add sweetener to taste if desired.
- Flash Chill: Fill a separate pitcher with ice. Pour the hot tea directly over the ice.
- Serve: Once the tea is chilled, pour into a glass and enjoy!
